Read the Above Passage And Answer the Question !!

→ Would you believe that Shakespeare's plays were almost lost? William Shakespeare never published his work. We read his plays and sonnets today only because his colleagues recorded and published his work as a tribute after his death in 1616.

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon at an unknown date. Significantly perhaps, plays were first performed in the town in the year that John Shakespeare, William's father, was bailiff, providing licenses to theatre companies, certifying that their plays contained no unpleasant content

Shakespeare most likely attended King's New School in Stratford, and studied

grammar. It is also possible that he studied Latin drama at school, since one of his

earliest plays, The Comedy of Errors, is similar to the Latin play Menaechmi.

He married early, and this made him ineligible to attend university or take up formal

apprenticeship in any established trade guild, except acting By 1598, Shakespeare had established himself as both an actor and a playwright. He wrote at a fantastic pace-about two plays a year, in the conventional style of blank verse and built on already existing stories that were familiar to people.

However, his use of humour and the emotional depth of his characters set him apart

from his contemporaries.

Although the argument that it was the Earl of Oxford, Edward de Vere, who wrote the plays and poems attributed to Shakespeare has never been resolved, the legacy of his work has survived. Truly, then, as poet and dramatist, Ben Jonson said,

William Shakespeare was not of an age, but for all time.
