Book review on the BFG
Roald Dahl was the author of this book. He was a spy, an ace fighter pilot, a chocolate historian and a medical inventor. He was also the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and the BFG.He remains for many the world’s No. 1 storyteller. The book called ‘The BFG’ starts with a young girl named Sophie lying in her bed at the orphanage as she can’t go to sleep because of the moon light falling on her face she decides to get up to close the curtains. She was a curios little girl indeed and decided to look outside the window to see how the world looked so late at night. She heard people speak about the witching hour but wasn’t sure if it was true until she saw a giant man walking in the street, carrying a bag and what looks like a sharing dream trumpet. She quickly runs to her bed and tries to hide but the giant holds all four conners of her blanket and picks her up along with her blanket. Then, the giant starts running very fast and takes her to a cave. Sophie thinks that he is going to eat him but the giant laughs and says that many giants do eat humans but he doesn't as he is the big friendly giant! The BFG!He explains how Sophie should not come in contact or even let the other giants catch a sight of her as they will surely eat her up. While the BFG is showing Sophie his dream catching skills, he accidentally catches a nightmare.Sophie later persuades him to approach the queen of England toward imprisoning the other giants. To this end, she uses her knowledge of London to navigate the BFG to Buckingham Palace, and the BFG creates a nightmare, introducing knowledge of the man-eating giants to the Queen, and leaves Sophie in the Queen's bedroom to confirm it. Because the dream included the knowledge of Sophie's presence, the Queen believes her and speaks with the BFG. A fleet of helicopters then follows Sophie and the BFG to the giants' homeland, where the giants are tied up as they sleep. The man-eating giants are suspended under the helicopters and carried back to London where they are then imprisoned in a deep pit. Afterwards, a huge castle is built as the BFG's new house, with a little cottage next door for Sophie. They are living happily in England! I throughly enjoyed the beginning on this book the most as I found it a little funny when the BFG is talking to Sophie in very funny English. The authors style is funny and while writing the dialogues of the BFG the author has used funny language. For example the BFG says human beans instead of human beings. In conclusion I really like this book and I would recommend it to children between 8 and 13. Overall I would give this book a 5/5 as I really enjoyed this book
