Read the excerpt from "Homesick” by Jean Fritz. I knew that Andrea had begun to like boys. She said everyone at the Shanghai American School had a crush on someone else and when your love was requited well, that was the cat's. What I couldn't understand was how someone could be in love with John Gilbert and a kid in knickers at the same time. I suppose Andrea could see that I was trying to figure out the boy business. What is the narrator’s most likely goal in this excerpt? She is defending her perspective and future plans concerning boys. She is explaining that other people's opinions do not influence her views. She is expressing concern about her and her friend's difference of opinion. She is exposing her difference in perspective and uncertainty related to boys.

Answer:

Homesickness is the distress caused by being away from home. Its cognitive hallmark is preoccupying thoughts of home and attachment objects. Sufferers typically report a combination of depressive and anxious symptoms, withdrawn behavior and difficulty focusing on topics unrelated to home. Wikipedia
