Launcelot has given the confirmation letter to Jessica which has to b given away by Lorenzo. The letter says that he won’t fail her tonight and that Jessica will be her torchbearer.Lorenzo knows who is the sender because Jessica had sent the letter .
1- Launcelot old master was the Jew Shylock . Whereas his new master is bassanio. Launcelot visits his old master to give the letter to Jessica and also to pick him up his old master for the dinner tonight .

The Merchant of Venice-Act II, Scene IV

1. The given extract from The Merchant of Venice, occurs in Act II, Scene IV.

The scene occurs on a street in Venice, where the various noblemen of Venice - Gratiano, Lorenzo, Salerio and Solanio discuss Lorenzo's plan of  eloping with Shylock, the Jew's beautiful daughter Jessica that night, before the dinner invitation at Bassanio's.

The speakers are Launcelot, the clownish servant of Shylock and the Nobleman Lorenzo.

Launcelot has come to deliver to Lorenzo a letter written by the fair Jessica.

Launcelot knows who the sender of the letter is by the handwriting and the texture of the letter. The letter is on white paper which Lorenzo says is not as fair as Jessica herself and he knows the hand writing which belongs to the fair and beautiful Jessica.

2. Shylock, the Jew, is Launcelot's "old master".

Launcelot's new master is Bassanio, the noble Christian.

Launcelot  intends to visit his old master to intimate him that Launcelot will no longer work for him. He is going to join the service of Bassanio, the noble Christian.
