i. Antonio is one street in venice and he is speaking to basanio.His means are the merchandise in which he has invested and they are at the sea in his ships .
ii. The present sum are the 3 thousand ducats.The sum is need by Basanio to go to Belmont and woo portia. The condition put forward was that they will have to borrow money from a money lender and antonio would act as a security.
