a) they both are roads who in turn are metaphor for choices one face at the milestone of life.

b) He kept the first for another day as he could not travel two roads at one time. Also he already knew what would that road lead too.

c) he doubted that he would ever come back at the diversion as once you make a choice it is hard to come back and change your choice.

d) trodden -to set down the foot or feet in walking; step; walk.
