If you see Sumedha Mahajan whizz past you in the bylanes of khar, where she jogs

,every evening after getting home from office, you would be surprised to hear her say, "My

health has never been kind to me." Ever since she can remember, the 30 year old has battled

asthma.

She grew depressed at being confined by her condition. "The inhaler was my constant

companion," She Says while other kids learnt new games,she was learning how to battle

breathlessness from older patients. In Amritsar, only when sheplayed tennis with her father and

Siblings she'd brim with hope, "Tennis changed everything.for the first time, I was out in the

sun."

After moving to Delhi, a neighborhood park where residents jogged all evening

provedinspiring. She soon hit the track. "After just one lap, my lungs were bursting." But as she

keptgoing, She noticed her breath even out.

In Mumbai she had her first brush with competitive running in which she finished 15th in open

women's category.​
