Place of women in Indian Society today - A survey



A survey was conducted by the Times of India in order to find out "what is the largest deterrent standing in an Indian woman's way?" Males and females were both interrogated. Out of the 236 respondents, both male and female, a large majority i.e. 43% continue to blame society even today, for the difficulties that women in Indian Society are facing. 23% were of the opinion that family pressure hinders an Indian woman's way of life and prevents her from achieving her goal in life. All were surprised to see that 19% of the respondents blamed men for the condition of women and what is even more surprising is that these respondents included men. About 15% men and women sited various other reasons as deterrents not letting Indian women rise in life. ​
