. Read the following passage and answer the questions given below

In the earlier days, people used to dive into the sea to collect pearl oysters. They did not have

any special equipment to help them to stay underwater for long periods of time. Every now and

then the divers used to come to the surface to take a deep breath before diving again. Now,

divers have access to very advanced equipment that helps them to stay underwater for long

periods of time.

Scuba diving is a form of underwater sport where the diver uses a self-contained underwater

breathing apparatus (scuba) which is used to breathe underwater. Scuba divers carry their own

resource of air allowing them greater independence and freedom of movement and longer

underwater stay than divers who hold their breath. It consists of one or more diving cylinder

cylinders containing breathing gas at high pressure which is supplied to the diver through a

regulator.

Modern diving equipment produces fewer bubbles and less voice than the older versions. This

makes it attractive to secret military divers to avoid detection by the enemy.Scientific divers also

use these in order to avoid disturbing marine animals as they study the underwater

world.Photographers use these to create underwater videos and movies.

Scuba Diving may be done recreationally or professionally. It is used extensively by divers

exploring coral reef areas.A scuba diver primarily moves underwater by using fins attached to

the feet.Other equipment includes a mask to improve underwater vision and a diving suit to

control buoyancy. Scuba divers are trained in the procedures and skills appropriate to their level

of certification by instructors from the diver-certification organisations. These include instructions

for using the equipment and dealing with the general hazards of the underwater environment

and emergency procedures for self-help and assistance of other divers

experiencing problems underwater.A minimum level of fitness and health is required by most

training organisations.
