Proper collection and destruction of soild waste is very important for the orerall
health of urban Citizens. Indian cities generates about 80,000 tons of solid waste every
day. It is very hard that none of the cities in the country collects and destroys its waste in
safe way. About 60% of India's solid waste consist of biodegradable organic wastes. It
orginats from kitchens & markets. By using earth worms this solid waste can be turned
in to rich organic manure.
Earthworms play a key role in soil biology by serving as natural agent. They con-
vert organic wastes into valuable organic manure. Earthworms improve the soil texture
& soil aeration. They eurich the soil with nutrients. They promote useful soil required for
the plant growth​
