Climbing the world's highest peak was never an easy task. All mountaineers of the
their dreams of climbing the Mount Everest since the beginning of the last century. A
team attempted to reach Everest from the northern (Tibetan) side in 1922. It was the
first organized attempt to accomplish a victory over the world's highest peak. George
Mallory disappeared into clouds during the third attempt to climb the peak from
Tibet in 1924. Seventy-five years later, his body was found on Mount Everest. No one
knows whether he reached the summit before his death. On 29 May 1953, Edmund
Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first to reach the summit from the southern side.
