Silver metal is one of the best reflectors of lights. Ordinary mirrors are made by depositing a thin layer of silver metal on the back side of a plane glass sheet. But these days mirror are being made increasingly by depositing a thin coating of aluminum metal at the back of a glass sheet instead of silver coating. This is because aluminum is much cheaper than silver and it reflects light very well.
