They have a common language and can understand members of another group although they may come from many thousands of miles away. Marriage is by mutual consent. They do not have a special marriage ceremony. Eskimo leaves by hunting and fishing. The Eskimos snow house which is called igloo is very well known but in fact Eskimo usually leave in houses made of of wood and tough. When they are not hunting and working Eskimo like to carve they use ivory and wood and they often make very beautiful objects.

1) Eskimo clothing was fashioned of caribou furs, which provided protection against the extreme cold. Most Eskimo wintered in either snow-block houses called igloos or semisubterranean houses built of stone or sod over wooden or whalebone frameworks. In summer many Eskimo lived in animal-skin tents.
