1) The East-West Highway passes through major cities such as Rajkot, Kota, Kanpur, Lucknow, Muzaffarpur, and Guwahati.

2) The major ports on the eastern coast include - Kolkata, Vishakhapatnam, and Chennai.

3) The Golden Quadrilateral connects four major metropolitan cities - Delhi (north), Kolkata (east), Mumbai (west) and Chennai (south). The other cities connected are as follows - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Balasore, Surat, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Durgapur, Dhanbad, Ajmer, Vizag, Bodhgaya, Varanasi, Agra, Mathura, Gandhinagar, Pune, Udaipur, Vadodara, and Vijaywada as well.
