ANSWER

both statements are true

1. in 1st statement

the number of ways of distributing m identical things among n different things

such that each person gets at least one object same as the number of ways of selecting (r-1) places out of (n-1)

is

n-1Cr-1

in objective type questions used it directly for distribute n identical things among m persons or among m boxes such that at least one is filled

2. we have to select ( combination) 3 places from 9 places

9c3

note :- if we have to apply beggers method then in this case the cases when 1 box is pty and other two filled etc also occur .

hope it helps
