Answer:

given =  given graph.

to find =

  • Explain the changes in components of total mechanical energy with reasons.
  • Find the velocity with which the object is projected.
  • Find the maximum height achieved by the stone if it takes 4 s to reach that height.
  • Find out the maximum P.E. of the stone if its mass is 200 g.

solution =

a) use the energy conservation theorem,

according to this theorem, and graph the total energy  is contsant and potential energy increases and kinetic energy decreases

we can conclude that the loss in kinetic energy is equal to gain in potential energy.

b)now , for velocity

use the equation , of motion ,

v= u + gt

0 = u + (-10) x 4

accelaration due to gravity is negative here,

u = 40m/s

c)now for the maximum height,

v² - u²=2gh

h = v²-u²/2g

h= 0- v(40)²/2 x  (-10)

h = 80m

d) now for the maximum potential energy ,

potential energy = mgh

P.E = 0.2 x 10 x 80

P.E =  160J
