Correct Question :- Find which of the following numbers are primes :

(1) 87

(2) 89

(3) 63

(4) 91

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Prime numbers :- Numbers which are divisible by 1 and itself are called as prime numbers . Ex. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 etc.

checking prime factors of given options we get,

→ 87 = 1 * 3 * 29

as we can see that, 87 has four factors (1, 3, 29 and 87) . so, it is not a prime number .

→ 89 = 1 * 89

as we can see that, 89 has only two factors 1 and 89 . therefore, it is a prime number .

→ 63 = 1 * 3 * 3 * 7

as we can see that, 63 has more than 2 factors . so, it is not a prime number .

→ 91 = 1 * 7 * 13

as we can see that, 91 has more than 2 factors . so, it is not a prime number .

hence, we can conclude that, from given following numbers only (2) 89 is a prime number .
