Read the passage And answer
Brightly decorated eggs, Easter egg rolling and Easter egg hunts have become integral to the celebration of Easter today. But did the custom of decorating the eggs start with Easter?

Actually they are special eggs, also called Pascal eggs that are often given to celebrate springtime. The tradition of painting hard-boiled eggs during springtime pre-dates Easter festivities. In many cultures around the world the egg is a symbol of new life, fertility and rebirth. For thousands of years, Iranians and others have decorated eggs on Nowruz, the Iranian New Year that falls on the spring equinox.

What intrigues me is the beautifully decorated eggs. Who began this fascinating custom? The practice of decorating eggshells is ancient. Ostrich eggs with engraved decoration that are 60,000 years old have been found in Africa. In Europe it was the tradition to use dyed and painted chicken eggs at Easter. In Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Ukraine and other Central European countries, Easter eggs are a symbol of new life. In these places they conceal the eggs in the garden for children to find.

Do we find any of these lovely traditionally decorated eggs in modern times? Today we find Easter eggs made of chocolate or plastic filled with confectionery such as jelly and sweets.

Easter egg hunts and egg rolling are two popular egg-related traditions. An egg hunt involves hiding eggs outside for children to run around and find on Easter morning. In the United States, the Easter Egg Roll is an annual event that is held on the White House lawn each Monday after Easter. Whatever be its origin, I love the Easter egg and the festive feeling in the air!
