. Read the passage and Answer the following questions. 08

There was a sculptor who had to deliver an idol to a temple in a nearby village. He mounted his

new idol on his donkey and marched on towards the village. This sculptor was excellent at his work

and this particular idol that he was carrying was perhaps his best piece of work.

When the idol was brought out in public, people could not help but stop and admire its lifelike

beauty. Some people even prayed and bowed their heads in reverence. The donkey carrying the idol

saw these awestruck people around it and fancied itself as the object of their admiration .This made

the donkey stop and flourish its tail with pride. It even started braying as if singing for his admirers.

The sculptor was bewildered by this sudden change in his donkey’s behaviour. He tried to move

his donkey with gentle words and a strong shove, but the donkey would not budge. Finally, the

sculptor took his idol and resumed his journey alone.

The donkey still stood proudly, puffed up with pride, until it noticed that people were now

following its master. It understood that the people were actually in awe of the idol. It realized that it

had been foolish with pride and humbly joined its master in their journey.
