1. ↦ Animal's back such as Yaks are the modes of transport in the Himalaya, as they can easily endure the temperature of Himalaya.

2. ↦ Sherpa, also called Sharwa, group of some 150,000 mountain-dwelling people of Nepal; Sikkim state, India; and Tibet (China); they are related to the Bhutia. Small groups of Sherpas also live in parts of North America, Australia, and Europe.  

3. ↦ The Himalayas are the result of tectonic plate motions that collided India into Tibet. Because of the great amount of tectonic motion still occurring at the site, the Himalayas have a proportionally high number of earthquakes and tremors.
