In the period between the 16th and 17th century in Europe, especially in France, the idea of an absolute

state was being advocated with the divine right of the King as an absolute power. Hobbes advocated a

different type of absolutism. He agreed with the idea that peace and stability attained only through the

creation of a strong central government, but it with caution. Men had the right to choose a sovereign in
