Read the passage and answer the questions given below:
Hyderabad : Former President APJ Abdul Kalam had said more than once that the nation should
not declare a holiday in the event of his death but work a day extra instead.
That wish of the People's President' became a study of contrast as estranged cousins Telangana
and Andhra Pradesh took opposite approaches to mourn the icon.
On Tuesday, the Telengana Government, headquartered in Hyderabad-a city Kalam loved
dearly-chose not to fulfil Kalam's wish, as the Chief Minister's office declared a full holiday in mourning.
Soon after, the publicity wing of the Telangana Government informed the media that all government
offices, local bodies and educational institutes shall remain close today as a mark of respect to the
departed soul."
On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh Government announced all government offices to function
for an extra hour to celebrate Kalam's legacy. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reminded everyone
about the former President's wish.
But it did not stop there. In view of Kalam's deep belief in the idea that children and youth of the
country are its future, the government declared that all schools will remain open for an extra hour on
Tuesday as well
Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra were among the states that did not declare a holiday on Tuesday.
Even the central government, which declared a seven day state mourning made it clear that there
would be no holiday.
