According to Abul Fazal, Akbar built the Agra Fort using 500 structures of red stone in the fine style of
Bengal and Gujarat. The roof of the Akbari and the Jahangiri Mahal are flat, supported by carved
pillars inspired by the Man Mandir in Gwalior Fort, and have many Rajasthani features like brackets
and balconies carved with peacock and serpent motifs.
