Since Adjum and Duryodhana were closely related to Krishna, they were allowed to w

He occupied a decorated throne chair at the head of the bed and waited for Krishna to wake
up. Arjuna, who entered a short while later, kept standing at the foot of the bed, with arms
folded in a respectful posture,
When Krishna woke up his eyes fell on Arjuna, who stood in front of him and he gave him
a warm welcome. "I am too here, Vasudeva," almost shouted Duryodhana, feeling annoyed
at Krishna's warm greetings to Arjuna, Krishna welcomed him too and then asked both of
them what had brought them to Dwarika.
Duryodhana was the first to speak. He said, "It seems that war is soon going to break out
berween us. I have come here to get your support, Arjuna and I are equally dear to you,
Both of us can claim an equally close relationship with you. But I came here before Arjuna
Tradition says that he who came first should be given preference. So you have to help me."
Krishna smiled and said, "Duryodhana, you may have been the first to arrive. But it was
Arjuna, whom I immediately saw on waking up. So his claim is greater. Being equally
related to both of you, I agree, I am bound to offer my assistance to both the parties. Now
there is a choice on one side will be the Narayanas, my tribesmen, who are great warriors
and are in a large number. I individually, will be on the other. I neither wield a weapon nor
take part in actual lighting, Arjuna will have the first turn to choose."
Without hesitation, Arjuna said, "I would be contented if you are with us though you may
wield no weapon. I don't need your Narayanas." Inwardly, Duryodhana felt too happy with
what he got
