Thirteen hundred years ago, a great traveller from China came to India in search of wisdom and knowledge. His name was Hiuen Tsang. He crossed the deserts and mountains of the North. He had to face the threats of bad weather and illness. But these did not stop him from reaching India. He overcame many obstacles in order to quench the thirst for knowledge. Once he reached India, he spent many years in India. First he spent time in learning and gathering knowledge of Indian culture, traditions and religions. Then he dedicated himself to the duty of imparting knowledge he had accumulated over the years. He spent maximum time at the great University of Nalanda, which existed there near the city that was called Patliputra and is now known as Patna. Hiuen Tsang became very learned himself and he was given the title of “Master of the Law” - the law of Buddha and he journeyed all over India.
