Read the passage from Izumi’s essay.

The abandoned lot on the corner of 6th Avenue and 11th Street should be turned into a community garden. Community gardens are a great way to teach people how to grow their own food. They show people that working in the dirt can be fun and rewarding. Instead of turning the abandoned lot into another parking lot, we should make it into a garden.

After writing this, Izumi learned that there is already a community garden on the other side of town. How can she best apply this information to her argument?

1.by critiquing the existing garden to show why the gardeners did a poor job
2.by using the existing garden as evidence that the new garden will be successful
3.by reversing her original claim so she is arguing in favor of building a new parking lot
4.by comparing and contrasting the existing garden with community gardens in other cities
