Read the passage from The Phantom Tollbooth.

"Isn't that a little inconvenient?" asked Milo, whose neck was becoming quite stiff from looking up.

"It is a little," replied Alec, "but it is quite important to know what lies behind things, and the family helps me take care of the rest. My father sees to things, my mother looks after things, my brother sees beyond things, my uncle sees the other side of every question, and my little sister Alice sees under things."

The passage helps the reader to draw conclusions about which character's perspective?

Alec
Alice
Alec's father
Alec's mother

Answer:

The passage helps the reader to draw conclusions about Alec's perspective.

Explanation:

  • Here is a conversation between Milo and Alec about Alec's perspective of his family.
  • Milo was looking up quite stiff for Alec's reply.
  • Alec told that he felt a little inconvenient but the most important thing is to understand what lies beyond all.
  • Here he tries to justify his family's way of looking at the wideness of world. From his perspective everyone has a different point of view. everyone looks at the world differently. Goods and bads of the world comes just from their understandings of the world.
  • My father sees to things- Here he means that his father is taking responsibility of everything which he thinks to be his duty. he has to be responsible for his family, society etc...
  • my mother looks after things- His mother is taking care of her family, kids, friend which she thinks to be her job in her perspective.
  • My brother sees beyond things- He is just trying to understand the things just beyond the scope of thoughts.
  • my uncle sees the other side of every question-Which means he is aware of everything. before he steps into something he just tries to find out the goods and bads.
