Once upon a time, there lived an old man in a village. He had four sons, but all four of them were very lazy. The old man tried hard to explain them the worth of hard work but they paid no heed to what he said. The old man fell sick and was counting his last days in his death bed.
He decided to make a last attempt at teaching his children the importance of hard work. He called all his four sons. He told them that he could die very soon. So he wanted to tell them a secret of treasure box which contained lots of money gold and gems. He wanted to distribute the contents of the box equally between his four sons.
The sons became very happy and asked their father where he had kept the treasure box. The father replied that he only remembered that he had buried the box in the backyard of their house. However, the exact location where he had hid the box he had now forgotten.
A few days later their father died. The sons became sad as the father had not by then remembered the exact location of the box. The sons, though lazy, decided to dig the entire land in order to find their father's secret treasure box.
They Dug the entire land, could not find the box. They, then, decided to dig the land more deeply. They dug certain spots in the land so deeply that water emerged from there.
One man observed them from a distance. He suggested them to plant vegetables and flowers in the land as a land had become very fertile because of abundant water. They did as the man had suggested. Soon, the garden was full of nutritious vegetables and flowers. The sons sold the produce in the market and earned lot of money. The sons understood that the secret treasure their father was referring to was their hard work which made the land fertile and made them wealthy.
