Read the poem again, and work in pairs or groups to do the following tasks. (i) Find the words that describe the movements and actions of the tiger in the case and in the wild. Arrange them in two columns. (ii) Find the words that describe the two places, and arrange them in two columns. Now try to share ideas about how the poet uses words and images to contrast the two situations.

Answer:
(i) IN THE CAGE:
- stalks in his vivid stripes
- quiet rage
- ignoring visitors
- locked in concrete cells
- stalking the length of his cage
- stares with his brilliant eyes
IN THE WILD
- lurking in shadow
- sliding through the long grass
- snarling around houses
- baring his white fangs
- terrorizing the village
(ii) CAGE:
- concrete cell
- locked
- behind bars
- visitors
- patrolling cars
WILD
- shadow
- long grass
- water hole
- plump deer
- houses at the jungle's edge
By these contrasting situations, the poet is basically trying to summarize that the situations are almost opposite in the two places. While the forest makes the tiger feel real, close to nature, on the same time cage gives him a feeling of chains, like he is locked up.
HOPE THIS HELPS :-)
