Answer:

1) The main theme in “Fire and Ice” is destruction. Frost states that “I hold with those who favour fire” indicating that he believes fire is a better way to destroy something.

2) A person, although, cannot "taste desire" as desire itself is intangible. However, the poet tries to show how he has had previous experiences with desire and how it affected him. The poetic device used here is imagery, as it focuses on the five senses one posseses.

3) 'Hatred' makes us cold towards other's feelings. The coldness of ice can numb our senses. Similarly, the coldness of our hearts can numb our kindness. That is why hate has been compared with ice. Often, we experience hatred towards another person or group when they have contempt for another person or believe them to be inferior.

Hope this helps!
