I think after reading this, the comparison is made with a bird because the voice produced was melodious just like a birds chirping. But then it turns out that the voice coming isn't from a bird but someone who is invisible and cant be viewed by the speaker. That' why the speaker is confused if the voice isnt coming from the bird then from where is the voice coming from.
