The last leaf summary begins with two girls namely Sue and Johnsy lived together in a small flat. Both were artists. They live in the third floor of an old house. Johnsy felt seriously ill in November. Sue suffered from pneumonia and used to lie down in her bed without moving. She continuously look out of the window.

Sue, more friend, became very disturbed. Sue suddenly calls the doctor. Although he came every day, yet Johnsy's condition showed no improvement.
