They had bucket baths, did not leave taps running, watered their plants in the evening, and used biodegradable detergents and soaps that did not pollute the soil. They drank only as much water as they wanted, and did not waste. They had also placed a brick in their toilet cistern to decrease the amount of water for flushing.
• Z’s family had bought a large storage tank, and installed a new booster tube-well pump to fill it. They paid their water tax regularly. Their new washing machine used less water than manual washing. They had enough water through the summer months.
