The mango is called the King of Fruits. It is the national fruit of India. Thousands of years ago, mangoes grew only in Eastern India and Burma. Now mangoes are grown in many warm countries. Mango trees are evergreen trees. A mango tree can grow up to sixty feet. Mango trees need hot dry periods to give a good crop. So in India you get the best varieties in summer. The mango tree bears fruit four to six years after it is planted. In spring the mango tree is full of flowers. The pale yellow blossoms cover the branches of the trees. In early summer, tiny row mangoes appear. They are dark green and very sour. As it grows hotter. the manqoes beain to ripen into qolden yellow. iuicy fruit. Pickles, jam. juices and candies are made
from mangoes. Mangoes are rich in vitamins and minerals.
