The Gentle Deer
Have you seen a little deer,
Playing in the woods?
Sometimes he lets you go quite near,
And wonders if he should.
But if he sees you mean no harm,
And you tip-toe by his side,
He knows that all is well and calm,
And he doesn't have to hide.
Of all the animals God has made,
He was the sweetest head,
And looks so pretty in the glade.
With his coat of chestnut-red.
