Statement of a scale describes in words the distance on the map, and it's equivalent distance on Earth's surface. It is represented in ratio, which we call Representative Fraction. Eg: 1: 50000 means 1cm on the map is 50000 cms on actual ground.
The Graphical Scale is a bar which usually represent the true distance of an unit length on the map. Graphical scale and the numerical scale can be translated into each other
While calculating the distance between two places the length can be measured by using a string or divider and the distance can then be calculated by placing the string or divider on the graphical scale directly and the kms can be calculated.
Hope it helps!

Answer:
Statement of a scale describes in words the distance between two places on map and same two places on ground.I is represented by fraction or in ratio which is called the representative fraction.
EXAMPLE:
1/50,000 or 1: 50,000 written on map means 1cm on the map is 50,000cm on ground.
The graphic scale is a bar which represents the true distance between any places on the map.
Only this much is the answer, writing anything else about this answer would be a waste .
