12. Read the following extract from the story 'Thumbelina' by Hans Christian
Andersen. Then, answer the questions given below.
Once upon a time there was an old woman. She lived all by herself. She
spent all her time taking care of her garden which was filled with
beautiful flowers. She got lonely. One day, the old woman was watering
her roses and a witch came to meet her. The witch found out that the
old woman was lonely. So, she gave her a special seed. She told her to
plant the seed in her best soil.
The old woman did what she asked. The seed turned to a beautiful
flower. Suddenly, the flower petals opened and a small girl was sitting
inside. She was as small as the old woman's thumb. The old woman
named her Thumbelina.
