Answer:
I have recently read a book name as Atomic habit, review of the book is given below.
Explanation:
Atomic Habits has been highly recommended by many people I know and the Twitterverse. However, reading the book was a bit of a mixed experience.
I really like the approachable and informal tone of the book. It felt like a long blog post written by a friend rather than reading a book of about 250 pages. James certainly knows what he's talking about, from an academic point of view, but there isn't much pretense of being "academic" anywhere in the book.
He creates a great four-point framework for creating habits and describes some great practices built around behavioral triggers that help us reshape our lives.
The strengths for me are:
Think of processes and journeys instead of fixed Boolean goals.
Small changes add up over time.
None of these are new ideas by any means. Agile processes are basically the first and compound interest is the second, but somehow neither is intuitive to us and I think most people fail in the long run. James repeats these points over and over in the book, warning against the Big Bang success story being full of survival bias.
If you're looking for something prescriptive that explains a lot of dos and don'ts for creating new habits and breaking old ones, Atomic Habits is a great book. Full of directly applicable advice.
My problem with this book is really what I said above - there are no new ideas in this book. I wanted to know more about how habits work on the human mind and psychology. Only after reading the entire book did I realize that this was a false expectation. However, I came away from the book without feeling like I had "learned" anything. There are no truly new or groundbreaking ideas here. This book is essentially a "practitioner's guide" to the years James has spent learning and talking about the subject. Thinking Fast and Slow is a better book for those who want to study the mind more deeply.
