Reading passage
"Gayatri, come here." It was her mother. "What are you doing?” “Look at
this girl! Come and help me take these bags inside." Gayatri was a twelve year
old girl living with her parents in Chennai. She had lots of friends and she
loved going to school. She was also good at drawing exquisite pictures which
made her very popular at school. She was intelligent and smart. In her studies,
she was not the topper in her class but she always scored good marks. She
was a happy child eager to experience the wonders of life. But today, Gayatri
was not her usual self. She was withdrawn and scared. "What is wrong with
you?" Her mother was puzzled and concerned. “Are you sick, my child?» «Talk
to Gayatri. Something is bothering her.” She was worried and she asked her
husband to intervene. Gayatri loved her father who was a kind and gentle
person. “Gayatri, your mom is worried. Is there something bothering you?”
Gayatri took a look at her father's worried face and she burst out crying. "I
am sorry, Papa. I did a terribly wrong thing today. I forged your signature on
my test paper report. I was scared to tell you that I scored badly. So I forged
your signature. I know I shouldn't have done it. I am sorry, Papa." Gayatri's
father saw how earnestly she was confessing. He hugged her tight. "It's alright. people make mistakes. It takes great courage to confess. I am proud that you are courageous and honest."
