Reading passage
Mr. Biswas works at a hospital. He is a lab technician who works hard to
keep his family out of poverty. He looks after a large family comprising his
parents, his wife, his two children and his mentally challenged sister. “Biswas,
don't forget to bring your sister's medicines. You know how difficult it is for
her without those medicines." His mother reminded him today. “Kids need
new uniforms. Are you listening?” It was his wife. “I wish I could afford to
buy some jewelry for her. Not that she was demanding anything.” But Biswas
was a happy person. “At least my family is happy to be together. It feels good
home every evening.” Biswas thought of himself as a lucky person.
"Biswas, you should not squander away your money like this. I know how
hard you struggle to support your family. Why are you wasting your money
like this? Charity is for rich people, not for us." Karan, Biswas friend was
chiding him. Biswas always had a helping hand. He could not turn a blind eye
to the suffering mankind. So he helped people who were in dire need of money.
He often found himself with no money to spare, but he was a happy man.
