Answer:

Explanation:

The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money’. The quote that I started off my blog with has a lot of relevance about my topic for today, that is real wealth is never measured in money or possessions.

The moment someone mentions the word wealth to you, what comes into your mind? I am definitely sure that things like money, diamonds, gold, mansions and costly stuff will be running through your mind. Why? Because the majority of people would say it basically means riches. In this era of globalization, the modern society is very persistent in achieving these materialistic things as it somehow proves one’s status to be good. Often in the pursuit of achieving these goals in mind, we might stick to the fact that the money and possessions we own are a measure to wealth. On the contrary, I strongly agree with the statement made, that real wealth is never measured in money or possessions. I think real wealth defines something more than that.

As quoted by A.J Reb Materi, ‘So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth to regain their health.’ This is because people get caught up on the fact that with wealth, you can enjoy life as if it is a dream to the extent where they ignore their well-being. And all this for what? More trips to your local pharmacies or clinics for frequent doctor appointments? I do not think that is what we would want to spend our money on. Without a healthy well-being, one is not able to use the money for vacations, shopping and self-pleasure. For instance, to be in constant agony due to the body’s condition will not only bring unhappiness, but also the spending of money on costly medical bills. Whereas, if health was taken care of in the first place, the money would be put into relaxation instead of these. It goes without saying that the real wealth is one’s health because without it, we would not be able to carry out life to its fullest.

To me, personally, I feel that the real wealth is measured in how much time we spend with our loved ones. As we all know, time is never enough and we just have to make the most out of it every day of our lives. We only have so much of time in our hands ladies and gentlemen. With that being said, we will never truly know when it is our time to leave this world. So, our lives cannot just be spent to chase riches, but to cherish the wonders we have around us. In other words, small gatherings among family members, having conversations with those who are around us and even laughing away together about the good old times are the little things which makes life worth living. With all the wealth in the world, how much of it can make you feel happy without the people surrounding you? As human beings, no matter what kind of person we are, we need a little love in our lives, because without it, it is just sad. Therefore, time well spent with loved ones is the true wealth.

On top of all that, the good values within a person is a true measure of wealth instead of materialistic stuff. Having good and positive principles in person’s life is something that can be thought but sadly implemented by few. I say this is real wealth because having values actually proves the person that you are. No amount of property, money or jewellery can show people how great of a person you can be. By obtaining these values, we will be remembered and well respected. Regarding the workplace, companies will see people with values as a great asset to achieve greater heights. Besides, a person that is loaded but has no values, is technically nothing. With that being said, real wealth is not measured in money or possessions but in the abundance of values one possesses.

To wrap up this speech, I would like to emphasis on the point that real wealth is never measured in the form of money or possessions. I know the subject of my speech is quite cliché as it has been heard of many times. But this just proves the necessity for people in this modern world to be aware about it and not give into riches. In addition, if you have noticed, the elaborations that I gave are things that money can’t buy. In fact, these measures real wealth are from self-initiative which can lead you to true happiness. Before I close, I would like to end my speech with a quote from George Lorimer,’ It’s good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy.’ With that, I would like to give a massive thank you to all for paying close attention to my speech.
