Hi there,

In order to understand this statement, lets first see what both the terms mean. Conform means to abide by something, rules or statements and agree to the, whereas confirm means to reinforce or to identify something as the absolute truth. Now according to the statement, Reality is something that exists and nobody can run away from it. Reality itself is the truth of the nature . therefore reality is something that one needs to abide by and not reinforce it.

I hope the answer was understandable. Thanks for asking.

In human being life there is a big gap between reality and the ideal.

People always live in denial and pretend to be who they are not .

The society usually set standards for the people living in it.

For instance society needs an individual to be rich , have money and properties plus family to be considered successful hence if one lacks any he or she is considered a failure in the society.

People tend to struggle to achieve this set standards by the society which are the ideal and fails.

When an individual is met with the reality they become neurotic and lives in denial.

This widen the gap between the reality and ideal.

The above can lead to drug abuse to cope with the stressful situation.
