reason for discarding newlands law of octaves

because :-
1. the law was applicable to elements upto calcium only.
2.there is no place for newly divorced elements.
3.cobalt and nickel have different propoteies but put in one slot.
4.iron is a metal but put in non metal

this classification did not work with heavier elements like those lying beyond calcium as more and more elements were discovered they could not be fitted into newland octaves




newland adjusted two elements Cobalt and Nickel in the same slot and the cell placed in the same column as fluorine chlorine and bromine which have very different properties then this elements




iron which resembles Cobalt and Nickel in properties has been placed far away from tthese elements..
