HOLA friend!!

If you are talking about the Sepoy Mutiny of  1857, then there are many reasons which cause it:

1. The British transformed India into her agricultural colony. Raw goods were imported in India at high prices and heavy taxes and exported to England at a nominal duty.

2. Lord Dalhousie captured the states of Satara, Jhansi and Nagpur by the Doctrine of Lapse, which enraged many people.

3. The Muslims were enraged because Nana Sahib was not given the throne of his real authority, just because he was the adopted son of the Maratha Peshwa, Baji Rao II.

4. The British annexed Awadh and deposed Nawab Wazid Ali Shah on grounds that Awadh was not administered well. Awadh was a city with huge mineral resources, so annexation of Awadh was a great shock to the Indians.

5. Vague and Floating Rumours: There were rumours that the British had come to India after the Battle of Plassey (1757), and would leave India very soon (at 1857), so there was nothing to fear about.

6. The Imam Commision set up by the Governor General seized the legal lands of the Zamindars and did not check the title deeds. This enraged the Landlords and Zamindars too.

7. According to the General Service Enlishment Act of 1856, The Bengal Army could be asked to serve anywhere, whether in India or outside. This was greatly resented.

8. There was faulty distribution of troops, and the main power (developed arms and artillery) was mainly in the hands of British soldiers.

9. The maximum salary of an Indian soldier was the minimum salary of a British soldier; an Indian soldier could only rise to the rank of Subedar.

10. The Immediate Cause: Introduction of Enfield rifles instead of the old Brown Bess Guns ---- There were rumours that the cartridges of enfield rifles were greased with the oil of fat of cows and pigs. We know, that cows are sacred for Hindus and Muslims consider pigs as unclean. A Brahmin soldier, Mangal Pandey, at Barrackpore, refused to cut the cartridge by teeth; this became the immediate cause of the First War of Independence, 1857.

Thanks!!
