Fascism created totalitarian states with strong military. It also was a main contributor to World War 2.
Life in Mussolini"s fascist Italy was slightly different from other dictatorships. Rulers like Hitler and Stalin used but also expanded on developments that had been in existence in fascist Italy since the 1920s. Life for people in Fascist Italy was almost completely controlled. The state controlled as much of life as they could. Those who were in opposition to the state had very severe punishment. All Italians were expected to obey Mussolini and his fascist party. He enforced his rule by using the Blackshirts. The Blackshirts were ex-soldiers who brought those considered as traitors to Mussolini. For education in Fascist Italy Mussolini took special interest in the children and viewed them as "Future fascists." For boys he taught that it was natural to fight, for girls he taught that birth was also natural. The boys were made to be fierce warriors. The role of women in Fascist Italy was to produce many children. Mussolini had set a goal to have 60 million fascist citizens. This number however, was not reached.
By the mid 1920s Hitler rose to power as a fascist leader. Hitler was leader of the German socialist party, better known as the Nazi party. With use of propaganda and speeches Hitler soon became portrayed as the "Hand to lift the people of germany out of the great depression." Under Hitler's rule Germany regained it's territories. Germany also took back the Rhineland and took over the portion of Czechoslovakia that was occupied mainly by German speakers. Hitler also annexed Austria into the third reich and it became known as Anschluss. He wanted to expand German territory into Poland against the British and French. Hitler invaded poland anyways and this was the start of WW2. Life under Hitler's fascist rule was that the state controlled many aspects of German life. He even used censorship on Radio stations, Television and Newspaper.
In Japan a form of Fascism took hold in the 1920s and 1930s. Emperor Hirohito had most of the power in Japan. However, most of the real power was in the hands of a group military leaders. Hideki Tojo was a Japanese general and became a fascist dictator. He urged Japan to make an alliance with Germany and Italy and form the Axis powers. Tojo also helped plan war for the United States
