• Save the Khalifa : The Khalifa of Ottoman empire was threatened after the end of World War 1 and the Indian Muslims got worried. Khalifa was considered the leader of Muslims around the world.
• Unite Hindu and Muslims : Gandhiji was looking for a way to bring both Hindu and Muslims under the umbrella of nationalism. Thus came the idea for Non- Cooperation Khilafat movement.
