The Common Greenshank or Tringa Nebularia is a wader, which is a native of the subarctic region spanning from northern Scotland eastwards across northern Europe and Asia. It is a migratory bird that spends the winter in Africa, southern Asia and Australasia. This migration is for two reasons, as follows:
1) To escape the severe winter of Europe.
2) A part of its life-cycle needs to be spent in the wet marshlands.
