Tiger conservation became necessary because they were being poached by the hunters and killed on large scale due to which their number started decreasing day by day. So it became necessary to conserve them so that their number is maintained and they do not become extinct.
They were being hunted to get their skin, nails etc. so that they could sell them and gain a good amount of money. Therefore tiger hunting was banned.
