My mother was fast asleep in the drawing room when we both were planning to put our act into place. We took the matchbox which was lying on the table in the bedroom. We closed the door so that mother wouldn't come to know what we were up to.We took the box, took a matchstick and lighted it and took a paper which was lying around and started burning it. We were thrilled seeing it catch fire instantly . Like this , we took the third paper and now it was my turn to light it .Everything went fine when suddenly it burnt so fast that it reached the end in no time and I burnt my hand a bit. I just let the paper go and it landed in the dustbin , where there were similar kind of unused paper in it. Everything instantly caught fire. By then ,we got panicky and didn't know how to put it off. My mother came running on getting the burning stench and ran and got a small bucket of water and poured it over the burning papers in the dustbin and it went off in some time!. Now ,I need not tell you what followed after that. A never ending scolding and a nice spanking on our heads!.Our efforts in becoming young scientists were nipped in the bud itself.
