Hey mate ☺
According to Mendel when two different traits from two different individuals are crossed, he found that one trait is expressed in more number of individuals and another character in less number of individuals. He found the ratio to be 3:1.The trait expressed in more number of individuals is considered to be dominant and the trait which is expressed in less number of individuals is recessive. The recessive genes though present in the dominant individuals, these genes are suppresed by dominant genes.Hence, Tallness is dominant over Dwarfness which is recessive.
Dominant trait: It is a character expressed by a dominant gene. Dominant gene is the one which expresses itself in the presence of its contrasting gene which is considered to be a suppressed gene.
Recessive trait: It is a character expressed by a recessive gene. Recessive gene is the gene whose expression is suppressed by a dominant gene.
